When I sit down to write this post, it is always with a heavy heart. While I love the Catwalk for a Cure Event and what it represents, it still means that another child in our community is battling cancer. The goal of this event is to raise awareness and support the child and families that are affected by this disease. I would like to take a moment to introduce this years recipient.
Sophia is a 5 year old battling Wilms Cancer, which is a form of Kidney Cancer. Sophia was diagnosed in January 2015 and is battling her third recurrence of this cancer. Tumors have now spread to both of her lungs. Sophia just finished another round of radiation treatment last week. The pain has become unbearable and Hospice has been called in to help with pain management. Sophia is the niece of Mrs. Hyppa, a Teacher at Olmsted Falls Middle School.
We will be honoring Sophia on Saturday, March 4th at 6:30 pm at the Columbia Ballroom on Route 82 in Columbia Station. Tickets will go on sale this Friday and can be purchased through Gengraphics. VIP tickets are $20 and General Admission is $10.00 Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 440-821-5248 to reserve yours.
The Catwalk for a Cure will host a Prom Fashion show and a Bachelor Auction with some of Olmsted's finest. In addition, we will have incredible raffle baskets donated by some wonderful people. It is truly an amazing night. I hope you will join us!
