Did you know that in the United States, a child is bullied every seven minutes? That 160,000 kids are missing school each day as the result of being bullied and that our schools harbor 2.1 million bullies each year? That 4,400 kids commit suicide each year as the result of being bullied and for EACH of those 4,400 kids, another 100 children try to take their lives unsuccessfully? These numbers are staggering. We need to do a better job of teaching our children kindness and acceptance.
The NoH8 Anti-bully shoot is my favorite shoot of the year. It is a powerful message that resonates with each of my Seniors. Please take a moment to look at the scars left on these girls as the result of being bullied. Talk to your kids about kindness. While the tongue has no bones, it is strong enough to break someone's heart. We can do better. We need to do better.
